Cultivate, plant your seeds now and watch them grow”

Are you, right now, at this very moment, exactly where you want to be in life?

No?

Me neither.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m doing okay in life:

I’ve got my Bachelors under my belt, before the age of 21.

I’ve got work experience in my chosen field of Psychology.

I’m even working on my Masters.

On paper, those read for an excellent resume.

But in reality, for me at least, they’re the background noise.

They’re what I have playing to distract myself.

Because if it all gets too quiet, I’m able to think.

That’s when the thoughts all come crashing down, the ones I’ve been blocking out with my background noise. Continue reading

“Say it ain’t so, I will not go

Turn the lights off, carry me home”

Disney, oh Disney, you magical, mystical land of wonder and childhood dreams.

It is a wonderful place where dreams come true, right?

How bout nah.

Disney, is a highly overrated tourist attraction that sells you dreams.

Dreams of wonder, and magic, and dope Insta-pics.

Disney World in the summer is a terrible, terrible idea for both adults and children alike.

I know you’re probably like,

“But that’s the best time!”

“That’s when the weathers good!”

“That’s when kids are out of school!”

So, I’ll stop you right there; you’re wrong on so many levels.

First of all; it’s the worst time, we’d begin there. Continue reading

Skin.

The largest organ in the human body.

Fun Fact: skin can form additional thickness and toughness — a callus — when exposed to repeated friction or pressure.

I guess this is where the saying, “ That the more you go through, the thicker your skin’.

Skin is unique to everyone; the colour, the undertones, the freckles, the texture, the acne and the degree to which we feel comfortable in it.

Lately, I’ve gotta level with you; my skin is the very last thing I feel comfortable in.  Continue reading

“Things can get ugly, but we’re still a team

We are an army, that breaks from within

But that’s why we’re stronger, and that’s how we’ll win”

Have you ever been in-love?

Not the puppy high-school love, but the real I’m-planning-my-life-with-you love?

The forever love, with your forever person.

I’m gonna level with you and say the whole planning your future stuff?

That may not be a sign of love.

I say that because I planned my future with almost every guy I had a crush on; even that guy I made eye contact with a total of three times on a ferry boat.

Maybe it’s simple biology; a genetic tendency to start planning how our genetics are gonna be passed on.

Or it can be us simply hoping we don’t die alone.

My point is, you can plan your future with anybody, even ferry-boat guy.

But deep down (sometimes not that deep) you know,  instinctively, that this person might not be that forever person. Continue reading

Part of Your World

Wouldn’t you think I’m the girl, the girl who has everything?

Look at this trove, treasures untold

How many wonders can one cavern hold?

Lookin’ around here you’d think, Sure, she’s got everything

–  Jodi Benson

Hi there!

Welcome…

I honestly don’t know where to start; maybe thank you? Thanks for giving me the time of the day?

Yeah.

I think that’s where I’d start; with a welcome and a thank you!

My name is Renessa, but for the purposes of this blog I choose to go by Alexia simply because it creates a cooler alias: Lex Sea.  I mean no superhero ever goes by their first name right?

Okay, who am I kidding? I’m no superhero; I’m simply a girl who’s starting a blog to make sense of the waves of thoughts tumbling and crashing in the ocean that is my mind.

If that isn’t a hint that I’m a full follower of the whole mermaid trend I dunno what is.

Is it completely hipster of me to say I was into the whole mermaid thing before it started?

Probably. Continue reading
